SNORKELING

SNORKELING ON WOODY ISLAND

UNDERWATER LIFE
Enjoy the pristine, clear temperate waters of the iconic Recherche Archipelago. The granite islands, like Woody Island and underwater outcrops around Esperance, provide spectacular drop offs, underwater caves and swim-throughs. Our southern waters are known for their excellent visibility and are home to the elusive Leafy Sea Dragon.

WOODY ISLAND SNORKEL TRAIL
Take the plunge into the crystal clear water of Shearwater Bay either from the swimming platform or via the beach and follow the Snorkel Trail that guides you on a journey of discovery.

The Woody Island “Snorkel Trail” was a joint initiative between Esperance Coastcare Group, Esperance Senior High – CALM Bushrangers, Fisheries WA and Mackenzie’s Island Cruises. Funding was obtained from Coastwest / Coastcare in 1999 and the project was completed in 2000. The trail is in need of updating, but is still visible and a good introduction to Esperance marine life.

SNORKEL EQUIPMENT HIRE
Snorkel and Fin sets are available for day hire from the Visitor Centre / Kiosk.
